Drop Shot Rig
Drop Shot Rig
The Drop Shot Rig is a finesse setup designed to suspend the bait above the weight, keeping it at a controlled depth while maintaining natural movement. It’s highly effective for bass and other pressured fish, especially in clear water or tough conditions.
How to Rig It
Tie a drop shot hook to your main line using a Palomar knot. Leave 12–18 inches of tag line below the hook and attach a cylinder or drop shot weight. Adjust the leader length based on depth and structure.
Best Baits
Use small worms, minnow imitations, or subtle soft plastics. Nose-hooking the bait provides the most natural action.
Fishing Technique
Cast and retrieve slowly, fish vertically, or let it sit in place. Watch for subtle line movement — strikes are often light.
The Drop Shot Rig offers precise bottom control and consistent performance in real-world conditions.
